The new Pompey Study Centre opens its doors!
Portsmouth’s Study Centre has moved to a state of the art facility opposite the Pompey Megastore on Anson Road.
On Saturday 13th September Mr Gaydamak and Mr Peter Storrie officially opened the centre.
Mr Storrie said “The Study Centre is something we are really proud of. Some 300- 500 pupils will access learning through the centre every week. Even our apprentices come here three times a week for their educational programme.”
The centre manager, Clare Martin, is thrilled with the facility and saying “There are 162 Study Centres throughout the country all using the medium of sport to motivate and enthuse young people and I don’t know of another centre that has the support from their club that we do. We owe a big thank you to the club. Without them we would just be a building with a few computers. It’s the Pompey link that gives it the oomph!”
The youngsters that have visited so far have all had the same reaction: “WOW!” The young people are all motivated by the learning environment and enjoy using the facilities. Many of the young people who attend the centre don’t really “do” school and so this environment offers a fantastic alternative.
The new venue has some fantastic facilities with a main suite with 30 Apple computers; an adult learning room with 12 computers and two suites with 12 computers which are multi use and are also available as meeting rooms or opened up to offer a large conference room.
The centre offers a huge variety of “Learning thorough football” opportunities and the rooms are also available to companies and individuals that are looking for a venue to host meetings or training events.
