Each school has a designated 'Double Club' classroom that has been 'Pompified' with lots of Pompey
posters and flags. A designated Double Club teacher is provided from within the school and they wear
a Pompey kit to deliver the sessions during curriculum time. The school receives a huge pack of colour
printed resources each week from the Pompey Study Centre, to support the learning in the classroom. Each
pack includes numerous literacy and numeracy activities, word or number games and a weekly overview for the
teacher. The classroom resources feature up-to-date match photos and match data and are vibrant and
exciting to help inspire pupils by using topical events/themes related to Pompey and football in a wider
context. Teachers also have access to our sets of guided reading books from our football library.
The ‘double’ aspect of the programme means that children follow their classroom activities with a
session of football coaching, which is planned and delivered by our FA Qualified Double Club football
coaches. Each session is designed so that the children work on developing a new football skill each week.
They also learn all about the importance of a proper warm-up, how to work as a team, fair play and
participate in small sided games against one another.
